The Cove 2009

WATCH UP FOR THIS MOVIE
Synopsis:
In a sleepy lagoon off the coast of Japan lies a shocking secret that a few desperate men will stop at nothing to keep hidden from the world. In Taiji, Japan, former dolphin trainer Ric O'Barry has come to set things right after a long search for redemption. In the 1960s, it was O'Barry who captured and trained the 5 dolphins who played the title character in the international television sensation "Flipper." One fateful day, a heartbroken Barry came to realize that these deeply sensitive, highly intelligent and self-aware creatures must never be subjected to human captivity again. This mission has brought him to Taiji, a town that appears to be devoted to the wonders and mysteries of the sleek, playful dolphins and whales that swim off their coast. But in a remote, glistening cove, surrounded by barbed wire and "Keep Out" signs, lies a dark reality. It is here, under cover of night, that the fishermen of Taiji, driven by a multi-billion dollar dolphin entertainment industry and an underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat, engage in an unseen hunt. The nature of what they do is so chilling and the consequences are so dangerous to human health that they will go to great lengths to halt anyone from seeing it. More

KRI-Bukit Kinding Trail Run 2009

KRI’s 2009 year-end event is now a trail run.
The Date: Sunday 15th November 2009
Take Off Time: 7.00 am sharp
The Venue: Bukit Kinding Resort, Tanjong Rambutan, Perak.
The Gauntlet:
For the past decade or more, KRI’s annual run has been an on-road race in suburban Ipoh. Because of the voluminous traffic and the danger it poses to the roadrunners, we had to scout for alternative sites to conduct our races. We also supported the “green earth” theme and our first off-road run was in 2006. It was a cross-country run held in the vicinity of Sunway City, Tambun, Ipoh. In 2007, we reverted to our old haunt, the Polo Ground, to run our annual 10K. Taman Botany was our choice for the 2008 run. We adopted the same “green earth” theme one more time in the garden environment of Taman Botany. This year we have settled for a less mundane sort of run. This event promises to be a tough and thrilling trail run from start to finish. On steep and rugged terrain more challenging than the Sunway Cross-country run, it will surely give you a run for your money.
The Terrain:
It’s rugged and punishing. After a shower, it’s slippery at the slopes and inhospitable thorn brushes creeps beside the trail. Be prepared to even get your footwear dirty and perhaps your clothes messed up. Of course there will be easy stretches too, especially when you hit the macadamized roads.
The View:
At the top of each hillock you will be rewarded with an unobstructed view of the country side, green forests and mountain ranges stretches as far as the eye can see. Take time also to admire beautiful bungalows built on landings cut out on the hills.
The Categories: We take in all categories of runners, boys to men, girls to women.

Caster Semenya - 800m Women's Final In Berlin - Man or Woman

There's controversy at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin after the winner of the women's 800 meters final, Caster Semenya, was told to take a gender test.
South African teenager stormed to victory on Wednesday night, coming home in the fastest time this year – 1 minute and 55.45 seconds.
That was over two seconds quicker than defending champion Janeth Jepkosgei of Kenya, who took silver. While bronze went to Britain's Jennifer Meadows.
Afterwards it emerged Semenya had been asked to take a gender test three weeks ago by the international amateur athletics federation. But the results are not due for several weeks.

15Malaysia - open on 17 Aug 2009

What is 15Malaysia?
15Malaysia is a short film project. It consists of 15 short films made by 15 Malaysian filmmakers. These films not only deal with socio-political issues in Malaysia, they also feature some of the best-known faces in the country, including actors, musicians and top political leaders. You may think of them as funky little films made by 15 Malaysian voices for the people of Malaysia.

Fifteen short films, directed by famous directors such as the late Yasmin Ahmad, James Lee, Amir Muhammad and Ho Yuhang as well as fresh faces like Liew Seng Tat and Johan John promise a Malaysian-ness like no other.
Singer songwriter Pete Teo and the team behind Malaysian Artistes For Unity (MAFU) have worked with local filmmakers to come up with short films showcasing Malaysian social and political issues. Similar to the anti-racism song and music video Here In My Home, 15Malaysia highlights socio-political issues in Malaysia. A total of 15 filmmakers collaborated with personalities, including Adibah Noor, James Lee, Sharifah Amani, Harith Iskandar, Atilia, Amber Chia, Serena C, Minister of Health Liow Tiong Lai, Nik Aziz, Khairy Jamaluddin and many others.

Date: 15 Aug 09
Time: 4.30pm
Venue: SK Hishamuddin, KL

This event was previously scheduled on 1 Aug, but postponed to 15 Aug due to Anti-ISA protest held on 1 Aug. Maybe due to the re-scheduled, not many participants turn up. Mostly were kids children and mainly Indian kids and some Chinese kids.
Suprisingly there was a big group of Indian kids ran without shoe. This group are future Kaki Ayam team. The 1st boy winner timing for 3km was 7.50min and ran WITHOUT shoe. The 1st girl winner timing was 9.21min, fantastic.
Due to lack of sponsor, T-shirt is for kids only and the quality of the medal also not attractive.
Top 3 cash prized and top 10 medals for each category. There were only 19 women runners, all of them should got a medal.
Some winners did not wait for the medal presentative and the organiser allowed them to collect from his house in SS3.

8,500 Participate in Adidas King of the Road Run

THE Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Adidas should be commended for making the Shah Alam-Adidas King of the Road run on Sunday a successful event with about 8,500 participants.
Except for some confusion during the prize-giving ceremony, the programme went without a hitch. And, the confusion could have been avoided if the participants had used their registered numbers.
Adidas Malaysia sports marketing associate K. Krishnan said most of the top runners’ numbers were collected by their managers.
“The numbers were wrongly distributed among the participants. At the finishing line, the officials recorded the numbers according to the participants’ finishing, and the winners were announced according to our master list. This could have been avoided if the participants had worn their respective registered numbers.
