Adidas King Of The Road Run 2013 - Registration Closed

11,000 Malaysians are ‘All In’ For The 15th Edition of adidas King Of The Road 2013 Run!

Malaysia set to be host country for the regional championship this year
Petaling Jaya, 29th July 2013 – Within a week of the launch of the 15th series of the adidas King Of The Road Run, adidas Malaysia has officially closed it’s registration today with exactly 11,000 participants set for the run scheduled to flag off on October 20th. The running event will once again be held on the NPE Highway over a 16.8KM and 10KM stretch.

“We are extremely glad over the fact that we have sold out all our categories within this past week” said Bryan Gee, Brand Manager of adidas Malaysia in an official statement.

“Each year we have increased the number of spaces for participants. In 2011 we had 8,800 runners and by popular demand we have increased to 11,000 this year. This proves that running is indeed fast becoming a very popular recreational sport among Malaysians. We are excited to be having the adidas King Of The Road 2013 with those that have been running with us and to newcomers this year as well” continued Bryan Gee.

“The heart and soul of the brand is sports and we at adidas thrive on contributing to the local sports scene by cultivating healthy sporting habits and an active lifestyle. At this point in time we look forward to seeing everyone on race day!” ended Bryan Gee.

The adidas King Of The Road 2013 is part of an international event conceptually organized by adidas across five South East Asian countries. This year’s run will also see Malaysia as the final leg and host of the adidas King Of The Road Southeast Asia 2013, which will see the reigning champions from Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia competing to be crowned this year’s Regional adidas King of the Road. The race will mark the third run held on the NPE Highway by popular demand from participants. The adidas King Of The Road 2013 is also in celebration of the smart partnership between adidas Malaysia and IJM and in support of IJM’s 30th anniversary.

The 2013 edition run will debut a special junior category, with a distance of 10 km for school between the ages of 15 – 17 years old. The event, opened to participants aged 15 years and above across two categories – the National category (Men/Women) is catered to local runners (Malaysians and Permanent Residents) and the International category (Men/Women) for international participants.

Runners will again enjoy a unique running experience on the NPE Highway which will be exclusively closed to all traffic from 5.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. The run consists of two distances targeted to everyone who likes to run. The first is a unique 16.8km route for more serious runners, and the second a 10km route suited more for the social runner.

The theme for this year’s race is ‘Boost your run’, inspired by the latest adidas BOOST™ foam innovation which has revolutionized the running world with its debut in the market earlier this year. The new adidas BOOST™ range features groundbreaking cushioning technology, which provides the highest energy return in the running industry.

The highly anticipated regional run of the year is supported by the Ministry of Works, Polis Diraja Malaysia, Malaysian Highway Authority and IJM with official partners New Pantai Expressway and official venue sponsor Sunway Pyramid – the country’s first themed shopping mall. The run will include state of the art tracking equipment and the latest in technology set to monitor the race.

All participants will receive a special adidas King Of the Road 2013 tote bag with a running vest, timing chip and awesome giveaways. Participants will also receive a medal upon completion of the race.

Puma Mobium Elite Glow

PUMA® LAUNCHES MOBIUM ELITE GLOW

Award-winning Mobium Elite, Adaptive Running Footwear
is Enhanced to Bring Light to the Night Run

Following the Summer 2013 launch of the latest innovation in running technology with Adaptive Running™— the Mobium Elite, recently awarded “2013 Best Debut” by Runner’s World China for its innovation, technology, comfort and mobility, PUMA releases the new Mobium Elite Glow this Autumn 2013.

PUMA footwear designers took to nature for inspiration; looked closely at big cats and what makes them such efficient runners. Their bodies are constantly expanding and contracting while their paws’ distinct pods compress and expand in all directions to provide dynamic cushioning and spring. These findings gave our designers the inspiration for the Mobium Elite.

For the Mobium Glow, the inspiration was the cat’s ability to adapt to dim or low visibility conditions. Cats are nocturnal by nature. Their eyes reflect any light that passes through the retina back into the eye making the eyes glow when struck with light. This attribute is translated to Mobium‘s glow-in-the-dark and reflective features.

As Mobium Elite adapts to your natural running movement, the Mobium Elite Glow adapts to your environment. Equipped with the same innovative features as those of its predecessor – the Mobium Band enhances one’s natural spring, the Expansion Pods help reinforce cushioning, protection, and flexibility in all the right places and the Windlass Chassis changes in length, height, and proportion with your foot for natural movement.  The Mobium Glow is enhanced with reflective and glow- in- the-dark features that ensure visibility to keep you protected while you run, whether it be during the day, night or low light conditions.

The release of the Mobium Glow is complemented by consecutive activations across Asia-Pacific including the PUMA Night Run in Seoul in September.

Nike Unveils New Running Technologies

NIKE UNVEILS NEW RUNNING TECHNOLOGIES AND "NATURE AMPLIFIED" DESIGN ETHOS
Four new innovations are designed to enhance the running experience.

NIKE, Inc., the world’s leading running brand, today unveiled four new innovations at an event at the company’s global headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. The new products are designed to enhance runners’ natural abilities and were guided by Nike’s "Nature Amplified" design ethos, an approach that is focused on designing for the body in motion and fueled by scientific data and athlete insights. Two new running shoes were introduced  — the Nike Free Flyknit and Nike Free Hyperfeel — along with two new apparel technologies, Aeroloft and Dri-FIT Knit.

“Innovation is not about creating for its own sake, it's about creating something better, designing with a purpose. Running is the heart and soul of Nike and it’s the birthplace of a constant stream of new innovations that will drive the company forward,” said Mark Parker, President & CEO of NIKE, Inc.

Aries-Merritt-and-Trevor-Edwards

“Nature Amplified means designing for bodies in motion and creating incredible new products that work intuitively with the human body,” said Trevor Edwards, NIKE Brand President. “The footwear and apparel we’ve unveiled today is based on insights from athletes and runners at every level, combined with extensive research in our Sport Research Lab. These innovations are data-driven, but body-led."

Nike-Aeroloft-800-Vest-and-Dri-FIT

FOOTWEAR INNOVATIONS
The Nike Free Flyknit is the fusion of two of Nike’s most iconic footwear technologies — the compressive Nike Flyknit upper and the flexible Nike Free outsole. The Nike Free Flyknit upper features zoned performance mapping and a second-skin fit. The shoe provides the benefits of natural motion and a snug, supportive fit in a single shoe.

Designed to feel like an extension of the body by minimizing layers between the foot and the ground, the Nike Free Hyperfeel delivers a natural motion sensation for the runner. A drop-in insole made from Lunarlon foam allows the foot to have direct contact with Lunarlon cushioning. The ultra-thin waffle outsole uses strategically placed waffle pistons for grip and feel, allowing the foot to get closer to the ground.

APPAREL TECHNOLOGIES
Nike Aeroloft technology also debuted in the ultra-light Nike Aeroloft 800 Vest, designed to keep runners warm and comfortable in cooler conditions. Insulating down has been combined with precision ventilation that allows heat to escape the body so athletes stay dry.

Dri-FIT Knit is an ultra-soft, lightweight fabric engineered to help athletes maintain optimal performance temperature in a variety of conditions. The technology employs visibly different knit patterns to aid breathability, while seamless construction ensures a smooth fit free of distraction.
