The Rolex Award for Enterprise 2012

The Rolex Awards recognise pioneers whose work contributes to the betterment of mankind. In 2012, Rolex will give generous support to five Laureates for their projects that improve life on our planet.

Established in 1976 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Oyster chronometer, the world’s first-ever waterproof watch, the Rolex Awards have in the past three decades provided funding and recognition to 115 outstanding individuals whose projects have brought major benefits to their communities and beyond.

The next Rolex Awards for Enterprise will be presented in 2012 to five new Laureates for their projects that demonstrate innovative thought and benefit the world we live in. For their new ventures or completion of ongoing projects, each Laureate receives US$100,000, a Rolex chronometer, and the benefits of international publicity.

The Rolex Awards are open to any individual of any age, with a concrete working project. Proposals may be submitted in almost any area of activity, including science and health; applied technology; exploration and discovery; the environment; and cultural heritage.

PBIM in Xiamen International Marathon

The Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee had recently paid an official visit to Xiamen, China to attend the C&D Xiamen International Marathon 2011 from 1st till 2nd January 2011, which had a total participation of 64,000 runners in the grand marathon event this year. For the third consecutive year now, Penang State Tourism Development & Culture EXCO and Chairman of the Penang Bridge International Marathon, YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, was invited to the C&D Xiamen International Marathon for the 3rd International Forum for Mayors of Marathon Host Cities and in keeping a close relationship between Penang and Xiamen as sister cities.

The Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee is happy to announce the win of Michele Tan Bee Kiang in second place of the Half Marathon category at the official time of 1 hour 28 minutes.

End of an era: Last Roll of Kodachrome Film Developed

It was a photographic breakthrough that helped capture some of the 20th century's most iconic images.

But now Kodachrome, the first commercially successful colour film, has become history itself after it was developed for the last time yesterday.

Dwayne's Photo, a family-run business in Parsons, Kansas, was the last place in the world where the 75-year-old Kodak product could be developed.

The die was cast after Kodak announced in June last year that it would stop making the chemicals needed to develop Kodachrome in a round of cost-cutting after the company reported a £84million loss. Read more

The run was well organised, flag-off and prizes presentation were punctual and efficient. The most good thing is that it was free and goodies was provided too - a t-shirt, recycle bag, towel, fruit, rotis and water.

The route is hilly, may view the elevation chart show below.

Number of runners was not as expected of 2000. Maybe it was due to the form stated for ppl from Wilayah and Putrajaya only. Many are not aware that the run is open for everyone. Hopefully next year the organiser will continue to have this event.

Energizer Night Race Malaysia 2011 - Next Top Model

5. able to come for audition and photo shoot in KL (sometime in January) if you're being shortlisted.
6. You must agree not to kick the art director or photographer if the photo session takes longer than expected.
