The Japanese athletic equipment company Asics has signed on as the official apparel sponsor for the inaugural Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS).
As part of the three-year, US$11 million sponsorship deal, Asics will provide SCMS runners, officials and volunteers with a variety of sporting apparel.
Oon Jin Teik, the chief executive officer of the Singapore Sports Council, the organiser of the SCMS, said: "We believe that Asics is a great fit for Asia's pinnacle race. With its wealth of experience as apparel sponsor for leading marathons and its continuous research and technological innovation, Asics will help equip our runners, volunteers and officials with sporting apparel that is suitable for Singapore's humid weather."
The Asics brand sponsors 52 marathons around the world including the prestigious New York City Marathon, Paris Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, Mumbai Marathon and Seoul International Marathon to name but a few.
