Yes, no doubt the route is tough but those runners who finished strong were much much tougher.
A young kid age 8 yrs old came back very fast about 29min for 7.4km, unbelieveable. The organiser should provide more medals to the school kids to encourge them to join in running. Noticed that they were some young runners came from Perak and Kuantan. Should give some encorgement to them.

The History of One Mile Dash

2010 is approaching. While the local running community is looking forward to usher the new year by participating in the One Mile Dash on the eve, I came across some interesting facts about one mile run in the athletic history.

Sir Roger Bannister's Four-Minute Mile was named the Greatest Athletic Achievement by Forbes Magazine. In 1954, he completed the mile in 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds, and not only he trimmed two seconds off the world record, but also run the world's first sub-four-minute mile. " - source Forbes

Today, the world one-mile record holder is Hicham El Guerrouj (Morocco) - 0:3:43.13 set in 1999.

Back to our local running scene, where last year, our new year one-mile dash was lead by Robert Kigagat Kosgei (Kenya) - 0:4:12.

All category started together

Date: 26 Nov 2009
Time: 6pm
Venue: Selangor Turf Club
Distance: 5km
Medal: Top 50 for each category
Prizes Voucher: Top 5 for each category
Ya, it was late to report this race.
This event was held 1 day before the oversea trip and after coming back, there were a few races taken place. So have to update the latest races first then only have time for this.
Initially there were no medals for this run, after a few elite runners pressing for it, SP Wong agreed to provide 80 metal medals per category. Finally the organiser managed to arrange 50 pewter medals per category. Thanks god.
Not many participants, some still able to sign-up last minute. The run was shorter than 5km & ran inside the turf club, which not many ppl has a chance to go in. While running there were not much time to admire the surrounding. The organiser initially promised to have prizes presentation inside the turf club, but unfortunately, due to time limitation, the presentation took place outside around the counter. So did not has chance to get the view again.
