BHP Orange Run has grown by leaps and bounds marking its seventh consecutive year of the annual quarter run. The run has attracted a crowd closed to 3500 participants, which was lower than the targeted 5000 runners. It may due to Shape Night Run that happened at the night before and other events went on at the same day such as Serembah Half Marathon, Jog of Hope, Peace Run at Penang, Pattaya Marathon.
The crowd made up of all ages group including primary students from Teluk Intan, kids from Seremban, boys from Pekan Pahang, runners from Penang etc. The most attracted runner was an old lady age 78 with bib no. D4237, completed her 11km run in 1hr35min. Noticed she was walking around at the stage area and one runner was kind enough to give her a goodies bag as the goodies have finished distributed much earlier. May watch the video at the bottom by Raymond Ng, she was appearing at 2:26. Faster than some of the youngest runners.
With an aim to encourage a healthy lifestyle while contributing to charity, the run raised RM30,000 for three charity homes namely Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim Miskin Penyayang Nur Iman KL, Ti-Ratana and Stepping Stone Living Centre.
Even though there was no medal and vest or shirt provided, but with only RM5 registration fees, runners got a chance to run, to contribute to charity, to receive goodies and free health check, to watch life performance, to taste various types of sponsor products and for those fast runners, top 10 winners at each category, they won cash and petrol vouchers.
