8,500 Participate in Adidas King of the Road Run

THE Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Adidas should be commended for making the Shah Alam-Adidas King of the Road run on Sunday a successful event with about 8,500 participants.
Except for some confusion during the prize-giving ceremony, the programme went without a hitch. And, the confusion could have been avoided if the participants had used their registered numbers.
Adidas Malaysia sports marketing associate K. Krishnan said most of the top runners’ numbers were collected by their managers.
“The numbers were wrongly distributed among the participants. At the finishing line, the officials recorded the numbers according to the participants’ finishing, and the winners were announced according to our master list. This could have been avoided if the participants had worn their respective registered numbers.

Adidas King of the Road 09

Date: 2 Aug 09
Where: Stadium Shah Alam
Time: 6.30am
Distance: 22km, 11km, 8km & 6km

Overall the event is well organised, except that the traffic marshall was insufficient and traffic is quite heavy especially in industry area for 22km runners.
Water, water was not enough, no water, 100+ earlier earlier tutup kedai. Not enough tong sampah, the stadium turned into a giant tong sampah, cups everywhere.
Also some confusion when runner came out from the tunnel, some runners went to wrong finishing line. Especially the 8km runners.
Heard that one runner is still missing, hope he is fine.
