Klang Centro Community Run 2009

The event was well organised where the organiser managed to find a lot of sponsors. Money collected has donated to the individual and bodies which are needed. T-shirt's design is nice, medal and trophy are awsome, attactive prizes, goodies bag is ok. Hopefully next year they will organise it again in a suitable location where there would not have much traffic. The organiser has achieved their KPI - 0% injury and accident.

The Walk for World Pink 2009

The Walk for World Pink was held on 3rd October evening at the Kl Tower. The event organized by Estee Lauder Group of Companies for breast cancer attracted over 1200 walkers.
The event managed by Twenty First Century Sports was a lot of fun.
People turned up with such great spirit. And were very friendly.

Climb Bukit Tabur help 11A Leukimia Girl

From Agnes:
I am organising a fund raising project to raise fund for a leukemia girl, Yen Kee, as a contribution towards her bone marrow transplant.
Target to do it in November, a total 4 weeks.
We will call upon people to donate and we will provide a service to take them up Bukit Tabur in Kuala Lumpur as a gesture of goodwill for their donation to Yen Kee.
How it works
1) Donors are to bank in the donation to Guangming Ribao's account.
2) Send us the proof or receipt
3) we will coordinate to take them up the mountain.
We had few would be trekkers that have never been up Bukit Tabur has indicated that they like our idea and we will expand this to others.
since we like mountain, we just do something extra for charity to help this leukemia girl.
pls write to me if you have:
1) donors who wants to do as a corporate body.
2) We possibly will need to have a pool of volunteers to chip in for this project.
Leader/sweepers etc... with vast experience in mountain trekking especially Bukit tabur, ( we reserve the right to take in/reject candidates for this purpose )
3) Other ways to help such as linking us to others to reach bigger audiences with aim to solicit for donation.
4) Donation amount : we do not set any pre-requisite for any donation amount for this fund raising, we are of the opinion that no matter how big/small is the donation, it's the heart that counts.

Ironman Malaysia Putrajaya 70.3 Race results

PUTRAJAYA: Jan Rehula of the Czech Republic emerged as the champion of the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya triathlon race yesterday after making a sprint 500m from the finish line to overtake Italy’s Domenico Passuello.
Rehula clocked 4’01:19 to win the race (1.8km swim, 90.1km cycle and 21.1km run) ahead of Passuello (4’01:53). Australian Cameron Watt was third in (4’03:52).
“I was trailing Passuello after the swim and he maintained the lead going into the run segment,” said Rehula.

“The run was pretty hard because of the high humidity. But I felt great and decided to give it a push to overtake Passuello near the end.”
In the women’s category, Rachael Paxton of Australia showed her true strength in cycling when she came from fifh place out of the swim to grab the lead and hold on to it until the end.
Paxton clocked 4’30:47 and American Katya Meyer finished second in 4’36:17 followed by New Zealander Erin O’hara in 4’37:33.
Malaysia’s best finisher in the men’s race was Shahrom Abdullah, who clocked 4’32:44 for fifth place.
The race in Putrajaya yesterday attracted 300 participants and 25 slots will be given to athletes to race in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Florida on Nov 14. “The run was pretty hard because of the high humidity. 4th Malaysia International Ekiden Run 2009

Time: 8am
Venue: Putrajaya
Distance: 5 x 3km
Mix team: 111 team

This year & last year Ekiden Run did not distribute t-shirt. According to the organiser, it was due to shortage of funding. Mostly spent in setting up the station in each 3km. Goodies bag is disappointed, some got toothpaste, some got Powerbar, some got the Eagle brand Thousand Miles Chasing Wind balm (great name ya!) and Malaysia Truly Asia postcard.
Hopefully next year they will get more funding and sponsors to give better quality medal and goodies bag.
The logistic is good with toilet facility, food and drinks in each station. Just the bus in station went back to the starting point was very late. So most of the runners jogged or walked back.
The running route has changed a few times, the map distributed during the bib collection was different from the form, during the race day, the organiser announced the route has changed again. Maybe it was due to the Ironman event which was happened at the same location.
According to the organiser, in Japan there are only less than 10 team joining the Ekiden, So the Japan co-organiser was so surprise to see that there were so many teams joining in Malaysia. The mixed team itself already 111 team.
A great event, will come back next year.

Ocean to Ocean Relay 2009, Thailand

“Sunny Ocean to Ocean Quarter Marathon & Relay Running sunrise to sunset Pacific (Lang Suan) to Indian (Ranong)" November 1, 2009

After Ranong Running Club, Chumporn Running Club, and Vejthani-Robwang Running Club have teamed up to hold the “2nd Full Moon Ocean to Ocean Relay Running (sunset to sunrise – Indian Ocean (Ranong) to Pacific Ocean (Lang Suan) on the night of January 10th 2009 had been a great success with desires from Governors of Choomporn and Ranong to host this event every year. Therefore, the 3rd Relay Running will be a reverse route from the 2nd starting from Paknam Lang Suan District, Chumporn Province (Pacific Ocean) at the sunrise of November 1, 2009 and finish at Kieng Lay Restaurant, Ranong Province at the sunset. The competition is called “Sunny Ocean to Ocean Relay Running (sunrise to sunset) Pacific Ocean (Lang Suan) to Indian Ocean (Ranong)”. Meanwhile on the 4th Relay Runinng will be “Full Moon Ocean to Ocean Relay Running” which is the same as the 2nd and the route will be revesed between Ranong and Chumporn Provinces on the Fullmoon of November every year. Hence, to encourage runners from Ranong and Choomporn provinces to participate yearly, the organization has establish the Quarter Marathon (Total distance of 10 km.) on the sunrise of November 1, 2009 starting at 6.00 from Pak Nam Lang Suan District to the finish line at Lang Suan District, Chumporn Provice. Meanwhile, another Quarter Marathon will be held on the sunset of Ranong Province at 18.00 to the finish line at Kieng Lay, Ranong Province. Both of the events is called “Ocean to Ocean Quarter Marathon”

Objective
1.To promote tourism of Ranong, a province with one of the top three best mineral water and many incredible sightseeings. It is also to promote Chumporn Province as a route with great site for conservationsits, especially on Patoh District, a district on the top of the mountain with a headspring and beautiful scenery.
2.To promote good health by running as well as to create friendship between runners domestically and internationally.
3.To promote tourism in attracting internal runners to feel the beautiful nature of 2 provinces in the south of Thailand.
4.To set an example of exercising to citizens of both provinces, especially with 112 km. long would enroute through the communities which everyone can participate.

Kebun Bunga Charity Run 2009

Time: 7.30am
Venue: Youth Park
Distance: 7km
Fees: RM15

Total 1500 runners turn up. Only first 500 get the medals, regardless gender. Really not fair to the female runners. Donated RM15,000 to Mount Miriam hospital.
The route is short but not straight forward especially near to the waterfall, road still under construction at the entrance of the Youth Park.
Waiting quite long for the 70 lucky draws. The ciku-ciku prizes should pre-draw earlier, only the top 10 grand prize should draw on the stage. So VIP and runners need not wait for so long.
It's a good experience, will come back next year.
