New Balance Celebrates Inaugural Half Marathon This 2013

Shah Alam, 18th August 2013 – New Balance hit a new stride with its Malaysian fans when they hosted their first Half Marathon at Setia City Park today. Approximately 3,500 runners took part in the inaugural marathon, which comprised of three distance categories – 21KM, 10KM and 5KM.

“This is a new step for us and as a brand that represents running we knew that this was the best time to start a half marathon seeing how running activities have grown tremendously amongst Malaysians today”, said Mr. Robert Lim, Managing Director of Stream Enterprise (M) Sdn Bhd.

The event was open to all Malaysians with opportunities for serious runners to take on a challenge and social runners to enjoy a fun run with their friends and families. Participants as young as 10 years old up to runners in their 50’s were seen having a good run throughout the inaugural marathon.

“We chose Setia City Park as a venue due to its serenity and interesting course to attract runners. Because this is also a family event, safety was our top priority and the surroundings of Setia City Park make it just right for an event like this and we are thankful for their generosity and support”, continued Robert Lim.

The marathon, which began its first flag off at 6:15am today, saw the following winners in their respective categories as below:

Winners of the marathon walked away with New Balance Cash Vouchers, Sworke Sun Glasses and a trophy.

“New Balance continuously supports the running community in Malaysia, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle”, said Robert Lim. “We are very thankful to all the participants that took part in our inaugural run this morning. We are happy that everyone had a great run, and we look forward to seeing more participants in our next run. ‘Let’s Make Excellent Happen!’”
