9,000 RUNNERS TO RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE WITH IJM LAND HALF MARATHON 2018

IJM Land Half Marathon encouraging runners globally to lead healthy lifestyle

Seremban, 21 May 2018 – It’s another year of excitement for running enthusiasts, as the IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 is back and eager to bring to fervent runners a bigger, bolder and a more adrenaline-driven running challenge!

Scheduled to be held on 12 August 2018, this highly-anticipated run targeting 9,000 runners not only in Malaysia but globally, strongly encourages healthy living and fitness amongst Malaysians and strives to bring communities in Seremban 2 and surrounding vicinities together to appreciate and enjoy a sport that is filled with adventure, speed and simplicity at its finest.

Marking its seventh consecutive year, Dato’ Hoo Kim See, Senior General Manager of IJM Land Berhad (Central Region) said that IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 attracted a solid interest amongst the running community and the public at large, and it is one of the best ways for IJM Land to provide these runners with a platform that connects them with the community and nature.

“Every year we look forward to organising the IJM Land Half Marathon, as we see runners working together to squeeze the best performances out of each other, while witnessing the camaraderie where (during the run) it is fuelled with fiery competition, but after the race everyone congratulates each other on a good effort,” said Dato’ Hoo.  

Having been around since 2012, this annual sporting event has received tremendous response and a loyal following amongst Malaysians, not only as just a platform for runners, but to reinforce the community bond among the people as reflected in their motivating tagline: ‘Run Together, Bond Stronger’ - a tagline that serves true for them as one of the 10 local developers who was honoured the “All-Star Award – Top Ranked Developers of the Year” at the prestigious StarProperty.my Awards recently.  

For the third year in a row, funds raised from the IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 will be channelled towards two charities, namely the Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA). IJM Land recognises the crucial roles in which each of these organisations play, in improving the quality of life for less fortunate members of the community.

“At IJM Land Half Marathon 2018, we know that running for the sake of running will not be fulfilling for some, as they may need a more meaningful purpose in participating in a driven sport such as running for a marathon.

“As such we want to give them the opportunity to help those in need and help them feel that they are doing their bit for the underprivileged - in supporting the efforts of these two organisations even if only in a small way,” added Dato’ Hoo.

IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 will include categories of 21KM (Half Marathon) and 12KM for women and men aged 18 years and above and for girls and boys junior aged 13 years and above. This year’s IJM Land Half Marathon will also be introducing a new category of 5KM for individuals 18 years and above for those who wants to be part of the fun.

Not to forget, this coveted run will also announce the fastest man and woman of the 21KM race, who will be in the running to receive the grand IJM Land Half Marathon Challenge Trophy. With the objective of celebrating the runners’ greatest running moments, the unique Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the man and woman who come out tops in their respective categories for three consecutive years, with 2018 being its third year.

All runners who have completed the race regardless of their category will
also be taking home goodie bags along with a custom-made Finisher Medal and certificate. Lucrative lucky draw prizes worth more than RM50,000 are also up for grabs. Runners who completed the 21KM race will also be entitled to a custom-made Ultron Micro-dry Finisher Tee.
