• Princes and princesses “graced” 5km Fun Run while competitive runners joined 10km at Padang Merbok 

• Family day atmosphere at carnival for participants from all walks of life 

• Project Good Deeds collected 177 pairs of sports shoes and 950 tees 

Kuala Lumpur – Princes and princesses were sighted at Padang Merbok yesterday but instead of running late for a ball, they were running to get healthier together at MPI Generali Run 2017. The sixth annual community run of MPI Generali Insurans Berhad features a 5km fun category in which participants got to dress up as Prince and Princess to race while keeping fit at the same time. Family members and friends who prefer a more relaxing exercise opted for the 3km Fun Walk. The Run’s 10km category catered to the more competitive runners. In total, the Run attracted over 4,300 runners. 

With participants from all walks of life, the Run treated them to a carnival at Padang Merbok Car Park where they were entertained by balloon sculptors, bubble performances and cosplayers ready for wefie opportunities. Booths of sponsors and partners were also set up offering great deals like special discounts and post-run massage. Snack stalls offering tidbits like popcorn and cotton candy completed the family day atmosphere. Before the prize-giving ceremony, participants took up the emcee’s cue to remain motionless for a Mannequin Challenge video. 

Participants also got the chance to be eco-friendly and do a kind deed by donating their pre-loved sports shoes and tees to Project Good Deeds. Seeking to reduce the impact of solid waste on the environment, the CSR initiative successfully collected 177 pairs of sports shoes and 950 tees for the Orang Asli community. The Run returned to its mainstay Padang Merbok as the routes remain a popular favourite among both amateur and seasoned runners. 

Project Leader Jayne Liew remarked: “All these years, MPI Generali Run has been associated with the hilly challenge and scenic city view of Padang Merbok. We have not settled on the location for our next MPI Generali Run. All I can assure you is we will strive to live up to our established reputation as a well-organised and fun-filled Run.” The next MPI Generali Run is slated to happen on 13 January 2018. 

MPI Generali will continue introducing new concepts to the Run so that community members can better enjoy starting the year on a healthy footing. The Run Organiser takes this opportunity to congratulate all the Race finishers especially the Champions of the four categories: James Karanja (10km Men’s Open), Vadiveelu Arumugam (10km Men’s Veteran), Manissha Arokiasamy (10km Women’s Open) and Yuan Yu Fang (10km Women’s Veteran).

Kuala Lumpur – The countdown to MPI Generali Run 2017 started in a stately grandeur with Princes and Princesses gliding into Cristallo Restaurant, Pacific Regency Hotel today. 

Artists cosplaying Disney’s Belle and Cinderella danced with their respective Princes to the delight of the guests at the 30 Days Countdown to MPI Generali Insurans Berhad’s upcoming Run. The delight turned to laughter when the local favourite mascots of Mamee and Mr Potato appeared and joined the dance. The royalty’s presence showcased the 5km Fun Run’s Prince & Princess theme. The cosplay element is introduced by the general insurer to add more fun to the familyfriendly annual community run. 

Besides the Waltz, sponsors and partners were each presented with an appreciation plaque for their contribution. MPI Generali Run 2017 is supported by New Balance (Official Apparel), 100 Plus (Official Isotonic), Pacific Regency (Hotel Partner), Running Malaysia (Media Partner – Magazine), KPJ Healthcare (Medical Partner), Affin Hwang Capital, BP Healthcare Group, Mamee, 2XU, Magnum, Nestlé Fitnesse, Nestlé Milo, Pilatique, Garmin, Leong Adjustment Sdn. MPI Generali’s Chief Executive Officer Oliver Tan in his speech thanked the guests for their support: “We are sure with your continuous support, we will have another successful series of Runs to put under our belt.” In his speech, Oliver also touched on Graduation Run, which is the last session of My First Run Clinic, and Project Good Deeds, the CSR initiative that has complemented MPI Generali Run since 2014. 

Graduation Run will be happening at Sri Hartamas large playground this Saturday 10 December 2016 to celebrate the close of the programme and “graduation” of the participants. The session will be capped with Graduation Breakfast.

At the same session, the first collection of pre-loved sports shoes and tees will be made under Project Good Deeds, which seeks to reduce the impact caused by solid waste on the environment. The collected shoes and tees would be donated to four Orang Asli settlements, namely Kampung Orang Asli Bakar Leleh Bumbum, Pulau Carey, Selangor; Kampung Orang Asli Pulau Carey, Selangor; Kampung Orang Asli Batu Semenyih, Selangor; and Kampung Orang Asli Sebir, Negeri Sembilan.

MPI Generali aims to reduce environmental impact with Project Good Deeds

- CSR initiative collects pre-loved sports shoes and tees to reduce solid waste impact on environment
- Aimed at encouraging recycling among MPI Generali Run participants
- Five collections will be made for the Orang Asli community

Kuala Lumpur – MPI Generali Insurans Berhad continues to promote environmental sustainability with the return of Project Good Deeds, the annual CSR initiative that complements MPI Generali Run. Debuted as Project Good Deeds Shoes in MPI Generali Run 2014, the CSR initiative seeks to reduce the impact of solid waste on the environment by recycling still wearable shoes and tees from the Run’s participants. To maintain their performance and avoid injuries, runners are advised to replace their running shoes frequently – usually after the shoes have been run in for 800 kilometres. 

However, the shoes can still serve for other purposes like walking. Project Good Deeds will donate the collected shoes and tees to the indigenous Orang Asli communities, 70% of which still live in poverty. Project Good Deeds started collecting run tees in its second year. 

Project Leader Jayne Liew commented: “Every year billions of tonnes of solid waste like clothing end up in landfills, impacting the environment, and the figure continues to rise. Our project promotes environmental sustainability by collecting pre-loved shoes and tees from runners and donating them to the Orang Asli communities. We call upon our runners to take this opportunity to help support our project while they get healthier together.” There will be five Project Good Deeds collection:

MPI Generali strives to prepare runners

Kuala Lumpur – MPI Generali Insurans Berhad’s My First Run Clinic returns once again to get both new and seasoned runners on their feet and running for their health.

Four Clinic sessions have been planned with the upcoming one to be held on 10 September 2016 at the large playground located a short walk from the Petronas petrol station along Jalan Desa Sri Hartamas 1, KL. The programme starts at 7:30am with a short talk before participants break into a practice run, followed by a session of discussion, Q&A and relevant product sharing.

Participants will receive a limited edition run vest exclusive for this year’s My First Run Clinic with availability on a first come first served basis. The last session will feature a “Graduation Run” for participants to test out the actual route to get ready for the Race Day on 8 January 2017. After the Run, participants will be treated to a “graduation” breakfast to celebrate the end of the Running Clinic Programme.

MPI Generali Run is the general insurer’s annual run pivoted on healthy lifestyle and work-life balance. To be held at its mainstay venue Padang Merbok, the community’s alltime favourite running ground, the sixth MPI Generali Run will feature a 10km Competitive Run and a 5km Fun Run with the cosplay theme “Prince or Princess”.

MPI Generali Run 2017 - Registration Open

Kuala Lumpur – MPI Generali Run today launched its new logo to better reflect its communal focus and a pride in the local popular landmarks. The old logo has colour blocks with adult runner silhouettes, one colour block representing each of the five years.

The new logo shows runner silhouettes from a range of ages and genders reinforced by a background that features the iconic KL Tower and PETRONAS Twin Towers. It is a refreshing take on a community run that aims at presenting the best locally infused run experience to participants from all walks of life. 

The distances have been simplified to two: 10km Competitive Run for solo runners and 5km Fun Run for teams of four, three or two, though solo Runners are welcome too. Taking place on 8 January 2017, the sixth MPI Generali Run has lined up exciting new concepts and attractions for families and friends to get healthier together, such as the Cosplay element for the 5km Fun Run. The theme is “Prince or Princess”, and the three Best Dressed “royalties” will get to win prizes. 

With all the novelty, certain things remain evergreen and are kept for this new Run series such as: 

 Tagline Healthy Lifestyle – Work-Life Balance
