KUALA LUMPUR --- Come 2nd October, Malaysians throughout the nation will unite for the year’s most highly anticipated regional run organized by adidas Malaysia titled the adidas ‘King Of The Road’ (KOTR) 2011. The KOTR Run will take place on a 16.8KM and 10 KM stretch across the New Pantai Highway (NPE) starting and ending at the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre.
adidas Malaysia together with the New Pantai Highway (NPE) will be working closely with the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) from Petaling Jaya, Subang and Kuala Lumpur districts to effectively close off approximately 50 junctions to ensure a smooth and safe run for the participants. The highway will be officially closed to motorists starting from the Jalan Jengka traffic lights at Subang Jaya all the way to Jalan Kuchai Lama and Pantai Dalam towards Kuala Lumpur. During the KOTR run, the NPE Traffic Team and the police force will also patrol these areas to further ensure the safety of the runners.
Preparations are underway by the concessionaire New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd to alleviate traffic woes as motorists are diverted to other routes. The NPE is to be closed to traffic in stages. Partial traffic closures begin from 3.00 am and full closure by 5.00 am. However, traffic will reopen in full by 11.00 am. All this will happen only on the morning of Sunday, 2nd October, 2011.
In a joint statement issued today, adidas Malaysia said, “Alternative routes have been planned for the traffic diversions to facilitate the mobility of the local communities along the NPE Highway. We are working closely with the highway concessionaire and joint-sponsor, as well as with the support from Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and the Traffic Division of the Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) to ensure smooth traffic flow.”
