Date: 15 Oct 2011
Time: 8pm
Venue: Putrajaya
Distance: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km
There were around 10,000 runners joined in this annual event. Half of it were 10km runners and 400 turned out for the full marathon. As anticipated, the weather was humid, the route was hilly and dark in certain stretch of the road. But runners were tough and managed to complete the challenge especially the last hill closed to the finishing line. As usual Kenyan Peter and Chesire Rose were the faster runner for men and women and clocked 2:26 and 3:20 respectively.
Another highlight of the event was the launching of the BSN Platinum Card, many national athletics were invited to join in the launching. Run For A Cause Reality Show participants were also introduced to runners on that night
Beside the normal Milo, 100+ drink, coffee and tea were also provided free flow. Light super were provided but some was wasted as many runners left their food behind, perhaps just a quality bun and a fruit were sufficient instead of quantity. Last year medal was awesome but the vest was disappointed. But this year the medal has degraded but with Brooks as sponsor, the vest is good in term of quality and design.
Well done to the organizer and the technical team after all the sweat, tear, blood and hard work that they have put in. Thanks to all the sponsors whom caused the event possible. Also thanks to volunteers whom work hard and stayed back to wait and support till the last runners who came back at 3am. Maybe next year the full marathon should start early at 7pm.
