This is 7th year of the anual Run4It road race event organized by the Klang Pacer Club. And this year the Club introduced different distances including a Half Marathon, 10km and 5km Fun Run into the event.
The 21km race course is a loop that starts and ends at the GM Wholesale Mall. The route runs into and around the housing areas of Bandar Botanic in Klang, that has quite a flat profile but challenge were designed with lots of turning around. Occasionally runners mental strength were put to test on really long and quiet stretch of roads.
Decent and ample hydration/aid support, good numbers of marshals found at all turning points/junctions, and traffic safety was of course fantastic due to the location and also the time of the event (gun off for 21km was at 5:30 am). But at times visibility was somewhat an issue, as there occasionally we encountered certain stretch of roads that has poor lighting.
The KPAC Run4It has been very consistent in terms of quality which makes its a great event to participate in every year. Affordable registration fees, and now multiple distance races and multiple categories makes it really runners friendly. And the team whom designed of the Half Marathon course should be commended for it is a fast course within the exact distance of 21km; which allows the event to be a perfect place for runners to 'try on' their first half marathon or as a treat for those who are aiming to achieve their PBs. And there is even a finisher T for the HM runners!
Although there is no timing chip,there is a huge digital clock that tells you what time you did arrived at the finishing line. That is good enough for many of the runners whom I knew, in exchange for some savings so that you can join more races.
Kudos to the club and the organizing team, and hopefully this event will become a reference for others to follow.
